AQUAPAL 265

AQUAPAL 265 is a liquid dispersion adhesive formulated for high-speed production across film-fronted paper bags and bookbinding casing-in operations. With excellent bonding to films, papers, laminated and varnished covers, this versatile water-based adhesive balances performance with application flexibility through medium initial tack and medium setting time.

Product Overview
  • Liquid formulation for easy application and metering
  • Excellent bond strength to papers, various film types, laminated materials, and varnished surfaces
  • Suitable for high-speed production lines in both bag manufacturing and bookbinding
  • Medium tack and setting time provide application flexibility and controlled production
  • Bonds most substrates including special finishes and difficult surfaces
  • Higher solids content provides efficient coverage

This adhesive’s balanced characteristics make it suitable for various bag constructions involving films and coated papers, and for books with special cover finishes.

Product benefits

High-Speed Capability

Formulated to perform reliably at high production speeds without application problems or bond failures. The medium setting time allows for controlled production at high machine speeds in both bag manufacturing and bookbinding operations, maintaining consistent performance throughout production runs.

Film-Friendly and Laminated Cover Performance

Bonds effectively to plastic films (PE, PP, OPP) and coated substrates that challenge conventional adhesives. The formulation handles laminated and varnished covers reliably, which is important when producing books with special cover finishes or film-fronted bags that combine the printability and feel of paper with the barrier properties and gloss of plastic films.

Substrate Versatility

The chemistry creates effective bonds across diverse materials – films, papers, coated papers, book covers, board, laminated materials, and varnished surfaces. The ability to bond most substrates including special finishes means you can use one adhesive across different product types and reduce the complexity of adhesive inventory management.

Product Overview

AQUAPAL 265 is a liquid dispersion adhesive developed for high-speed applications involving difficult substrates and special finishes. The liquid formulation flows easily and smoothly through application equipment and provides precise metering for consistent bond lines and controlled flow.

For bag manufacturing, the adhesive handles multi-material constructions where film-fronted bags combine paper with plastic films. The chemistry creates effective bonds to both the film and paper components at production speed, with the medium initial tack giving operators adequate working time. This makes it reliable for manufacturers producing film-fronted bags at volume.

For bookbinding, AQUAPAL 265 has been developed for casing-in operations on high-speed machines where laminated and varnished covers are common. The excellent adhesion to difficult surfaces means this adhesive bonds reliably to covers with special finishes. The medium setting time allows for controlled production whilst the medium initial tack provides handling balance during book assembly.

The adhesive provides good open time for positioning, then develops strength as water evaporates. Supplied in liquid form for use with roller, spray, or nozzle application systems on automated production equipment.

Safety details

Water-based product with low hazard profile and minimal hazard under normal use. Use with normal industrial hygiene precautions and standard adhesive safety precautions. Wear appropriate protective equipment including gloves. Ensure adequate ventilation in work areas. Avoid prolonged skin contact and eye exposure. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with water and get medical attention if irritation persists. Clean spills promptly with water whilst still wet. Product cleans easily from equipment whilst wet but becomes increasingly difficult to remove once dried. Not classified as hazardous to health under current regulations or as dangerous goods for transport purposes. Keep containers properly sealed. Detailed safety and handling information is provided in the safety data sheet available on request.

Additional information

AQUAPAL 265 is compatible with most liquid adhesive application systems including nozzle, spray, and roller applications commonly used for side seam bonding and casing-in operations. The adhesive applies at room temperature through standard equipment. The adhesive provides good open time for positioning, then develops strength as water evaporates.

For film substrates in bag applications, ensure surfaces are clean and free from contaminants. For bookbinding with laminated or varnished covers, adjust application weight based on cover finish type. Test with your specific laminated or varnished cover materials and film substrates before full production to ensure compatibility.

Stir well before use to ensure uniform consistency. The higher viscosity helps prevent splatter on high-speed lines. Clean equipment with water immediately after use whilst adhesive is still wet.
