Joint Construction

Wood joints – edge gluing boards together, dowel joints, mitres, tongue and groove, finger joints – all need adhesive that sets fast and holds strong. PVA-based glues work well here because they’re thick enough to stay where you put them and they grab quickly.

Furniture longevity depends on joint strength. Bed frames, sofa frames, cabinets – if the joints fail, the furniture fails. The glue needs to work across different timber species and handle both hand assembly and automated production lines.

Gap-filling properties matter when joints aren’t perfectly machined. Open time needs to be long enough for assembly but set fast enough to keep production moving. D3 and D4 water resistance classifications apply depending on where the finished piece will be used – interior furniture versus outdoor applications or high-moisture environments like kitchens and bathrooms.
