Tray Forming

Trays range from bakery packaging to produce containers. Corner bonding holds everything together, and for food service applications, the adhesive needs to handle hot food, freezer storage, and sometimes microwave heating.

Four-corner and six-corner trays can be hand-assembled or run through automated lines – the adhesive needs to work for both. Picking bins and industrial trays need more structural strength than food packaging, but they all need corners that don’t come apart under load.

Corner bead application is critical because corners take most stress when trays are stacked or filled. Food contact regulations apply when trays hold unwrapped products. Moisture resistance matters for refrigerated or frozen applications. Die-cut blanks get folded and glued at speed, so the adhesive needs to work with automated equipment whilst handling varying board grades.
