Paper Laminating
Laminating bonds different materials together – film to board, board to board, protective films to prints. The reasons vary: moisture barriers, protective coatings, structural strength, visual enhancement. Different substrate combinations need different adhesives.
Clarity matters for some applications (you don’t want cloudy film over artwork). Preventing delamination matters for all of them. Security lamination for ID cards and void tapes needs tamper-evident properties that standard lamination doesn’t.
The adhesive needs to be thin enough not to show through face materials but strong enough to prevent delamination during handling and use. Wet lamination suits some substrates, dry mounting works better for others.
