Mattresses are layered constructions – foam of different densities, fabric coverings, sometimes spring assemblies. The adhesive bonds these layers together whilst maintaining flexibility for comfort. Memory foam, nested springs, comfort layers – they all move and compress during use, so the bond can’t be rigid.

Hotmelt adhesives work well here because they set quickly and stay flexible. The construction needs to survive years of use without layers separating or shifting out of position.
