File Making

Office files and binders need adhesives that survive years of handling. Lever arch files have spines attached, metal hardware bonded, and covers mounted. Ring binders, document folders, magazine files – they all get opened, closed, and stuffed with paper repeatedly.

The adhesive needs long-term durability under constant stress. Tabs pull away, pockets detach, spines separate if the bonding isn’t up to the job. Manufacturing needs to be efficient, but the finished product needs to last.

Spine attachment typically uses hotmelt because it sets immediately and handles the mechanical stress from lever arch mechanisms. Pocket bonding needs flexibility since pockets get stuffed and emptied repeatedly. Label windows require adhesive that’s invisible through the clear panel. Some operations still use traditional techniques with jelly glues for premium binders sold to legal and financial sectors.
