DEMCOMELT 70150 is a polyolefin-metallocene hotmelt adhesive formulated specifically for bonding very difficult materials including polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polyolefin surfaces across bookbinding, carton converting, and end of line packaging applications. Safety details

Handle DEMCOMELT 70150 following standard safety protocols for hotmelt adhesive applications at elevated temperatures. Operating temperatures require thermal protective equipment including suitable personal protective equipment and heat-resistant gloves for personnel working near application systems, conducting maintenance, or when working near equipment. Provide adequate ventilation in working areas and maintain proper ventilation in the application area, although this formulation produces minimal emissions during normal operation.

The adhesive meets food safety requirements for indirect food contact packaging applications. Store in sealed containers away from heat sources, ignition sources, and incompatible materials in cool, dry conditions. Avoid skin contact with molten adhesive. If skin contact with molten adhesive occurs, cool immediately with cold running water and seek medical attention if burns occur for burn injuries. Keep equipment well-maintained according to manufacturer recommendations. Ensure appropriate firefighting equipment is readily available in storage and application areas. Window patching applications and difficult materials may benefit from temperatures at the middle to upper end of this range for improved wetting on plastic films and substrates. For PP, PET, and polyolefin substrates, ensure surfaces are clean and free from mould release agents or surface contaminants that might interfere with adhesion. Film cleanliness significantly affects bond strength, so maintain clean handling procedures. Some heavily treated plastics may benefit from corona or flame treatment prior to bonding. Test thoroughly with your specific difficult materials before full production, as bonding performance can vary with substrate type.

The thermal stability means adhesive can remain in equipment tanks longer without degradation, but still follow equipment manufacturer guidelines for maximum tank residence time. The very long open and setting times make this adhesive extremely forgiving during application. For window patching applications, ensure application pattern provides adequate coverage whilst minimising visible adhesive beads. For deep freeze applications, allow adequate cooling time before exposing packages to cold temperatures.

Store adhesive in original sealed packaging in cool, dry conditions away from direct sunlight and moisture. Clean equipment regularly with hot melt cleaning products whilst equipment remains warm. The lack of carbonisation means less frequent nozzle cleaning compared to standard hot melts, but regular cleaning remains important even with challenging materials.
