Product benefits

Film-Fronted and Difficult Surface Expertise

Film-fronted bags and bookbinding with special finishes present unique bonding challenges that AQUAPAL 365 was specifically designed to solve. The chemistry bonds effectively to plastic films (PE, PP, OPP) laminated to paper and coated papers that often resist conventional adhesives. The excellent adhesion to difficult surfaces means this adhesive handles various cover materials reliably including those with special finishes, coatings, laminated materials, and varnished surfaces. The high viscosity paste formulation provides substantial adhesive transfer, which is needed when bonding to low-surface-energy films.

Immediate Holding Power

The high initial tack means covers are held firmly in position as soon as they’re applied in bookbinding, and provides strong immediate grab on challenging substrates in bag production. This reduces the need for additional holding, pressing time, or clamping and speeds up production cycles without compromising quality, providing immediate handling strength.

Application Flexibility

The medium setting time allows adequate working time before full cure in bookbinding operations and provides operators with enough working time to adjust positioning and fix any issues before the bond sets in bag manufacturing. This balance means you’re not racing against the clock during application, making it reliable for production where both appearance and bond integrity matter.

Product Overview

AQUAPAL 365 has been formulated for applications requiring paste-like consistency and immediate grab across two distinct sectors: bookbinding casing-in operations on semi-automatic machines and film-fronted paper bag production.

For bookbinding, the very high viscosity provides the thick consistency that semi-automatic casing-in machines require. The high initial tack ensures covers are held firmly from the moment of application. The medium setting time allows adequate working time before full cure. The excellent adhesion to difficult surfaces means this paste handles various cover materials reliably including board, laminated materials, and varnished surfaces.

For bag manufacturing, film-fronted bags present unique bonding challenges where plastic films are laminated to paper. The high viscosity paste formulation provides substantial adhesive transfer needed when bonding to low-surface-energy films. The chemistry creates strong initial tack for immediate handling strength, but the medium setting time means operators have adequate working time. This balance makes it reliable for premium bag production where appearance and bond integrity both matter. The adhesive has been proven in production environments across Europe, particularly where film-fronted luxury carrier bags are manufactured.

The high solids content provides efficient coverage and mileage. Supplied in liquid form but with paste-like consistency at room temperature for use with semi-automatic application equipment and standard paste application systems.

Safety details

Standard industrial handling practices apply. Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling including gloves and eye protection. Maintain adequate ventilation in work areas. Avoid prolonged skin contact. In case of eye contact, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if irritation persists. Keep containers sealed when not in use to prevent skin formation. The product is water-based and can be cleaned from equipment using water whilst adhesive is still wet. Dispose of waste according to local regulations. Review the Safety Data Sheet for detailed handling procedures and safety information available on request.

Additional information

AQUAPAL 365 works with most standard application systems and semi-automatic application equipment. For best results, maintain consistent application weight and ensure film surfaces and cover materials are clean and free from release agents or contaminants. Adjust application weight based on cover material, board thickness, and substrate type.

Stir thoroughly before use, which may require mechanical mixing given the high viscosity, to ensure uniform consistency. The paste consistency is designed for paste application equipment and stays where it’s applied without running. The high viscosity means application equipment must be properly set up to handle the thicker consistency.

Clean equipment with water whilst adhesive is still wet. The product can be cleaned from equipment using water but becomes progressively harder to remove as it dries.
